How Does a Delivery System Work?
Dextrose and Maltodextrin. Dextrose, also known as d-glucose, is a high glycemic carbohydrate (sugar) that can potently stimulate the secretion of insulin.5 Insulin is the hormone that travels throughout the bloodstream to deliver creatine to the muscle cells. Maltodextrin, a low glycemic carbohydrate, is comprised of repeating linked units of dextrose. It has a distinct benefit over regular dextrose: it allows more dextrose molecules to be absorbed over any given period of time; therefore, it delivers glucose quicker than regular dextrose, which stimulates insulin to an even further degree over a prolonged period.
